Painted Houses

We saw some great painted houses in Switzerland. Some were homes and some above shops.

Let there be light

Himself and I both loved these charming stylised goat lamp posts, there were about ten of them on the walk down to the station at Uetliberg. I imagine they look even better in the evening when lit up, but we were not around to see that.

Head for heights

We climbed all the way up to the top of this tower at the Uto Kulm hotel

to get some great views over Zurich

and the surrounding countryside.

We then came back to earth and had coffee. We noticed lots of people arriving all dressed in the same smart light brown suits. Then just as we were preparing to walk back down to the railway station all the suits suddenly congregated together, whipped out their musical instruments and started playing oompah music! Ah, that did make us smile and we changed our steps to match the music.

Switzerland

Himself and I have just returned from a few days in Zurich - What a fabulous country Switzerland is. We stayed at the Renaissance hotel and had a six foot wide bed in our room - bliss.

I love the Swiss public transport. Super reliable, very comprehensive and reasonably priced too.
The transport is the only affordable thing I could find though. I though the UK was expensive for just about everything - but oh no, Switzerland prices were truly shocking. Everything is very good quality though. I went to a couple of fabric shops & a couple of clothes shops and bought nothing. Shame. Even the chocolate, made in Switzerland was double or even treble the price of the UK! Astounding.

Stitcheries

I bought this wonderful 'Over the River and Through the Woods' pattern from Buttonberry and have gradually been stitching it while watching TV. The stitching part I love, funnily enough it's the patchwork part that I'm not looking forward to.

My First Post

Actually it's quite scary doing this for the first time! Now it's come to actually writing something down I'm all tongue tied. So I shall say hello and have a go at posting a photo of the thing that started it all. I fancied a little sugar pot and spent ages looking for just the right one - I eventually found one here at the JellyBelly*JellyBrain blog. So I ordered it. Sadly, it didn't turn up, but after a quick e-mail I got a reply from Emma who promptly sent me this one along with a couple of other goodies by way of an apology - how kind. I used my pot for a while, then it got chipped, so I rescued it and now use it to safely store some of those tiny bits 'n' bobs that manage to somehow breed. But it was after reading Emma's blog and following all her links that I got hooked on blog watching - arrgghhh.
